Joshua is a Business Development Manager (Investment Analyst) at the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) based in Osaka, Japan. Austrade’s Osaka post operates the Australian-Consulate General in Osaka to support Australian businesses looking to succeed in Western Japan, while simultaneously promoting trade and productive foreign direct investment into Australia.
Joshua has a strong background in Australia-Japan affairs spanning both academic and corporate avenues.
Prior to working in the public sector, he gained experience at PwC Japan and progressed his career as a trainee at PwC Australia. He focused on conducting analysis in expatriate income tax and business development for multinational Japanese corporations based in Australia.
Currently, Joshua’s role is specialised in delivering government support for Japanese businesses with ambitions to expand their footprint in Australia. He is passionate about sustainability and leads the Circular Economy investment team in the Japan network. Given the global transition to a green society, he is excited to support and witness further partnerships between Australia and Japan to solve global environmental issues.
Joshua holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) and Bachelor of Arts (Japanese studies, International relations) from Monash University and regularly features as a mentor and is well-recognised in the Monash Arts Alumni community. He is fluent in English and Japanese and proficient in Russian.
