Applications are now closed
Thank you to everyone who applied to become a 2021 Delegate. The AJYD continues to increase our events that are open to the public and new ways to share opportunities and discussions with a wider audience. We hope that you will continue to engage with the AJYD via future events and through Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, and our newsletter.
The Australia-Japan Youth Dialogue 2021 will be a hybrid online and in-person event, taking place on:
Sunday, 14 November [online]: AJYD 2021 Opening Night
Saturday, 20 November - Sunday, 21 November [hybrid*]: Core Weekend - across two satellite cities in Australia and Japan. COVID-19 restrictions permitting.
Sunday, 28 November [online]: Follow-up session
Saturday, 4 December [online]: Final session
AJYD 2021 will build on the successes of our 2017 and 2019 programs with a new cohort of emerging leaders from Australia and Japan who represent the diversity of the relationship between our two countries.
The Australia–Japan Youth Dialogue Limited will cover the cost of flights, accommodation, meals, and transfers for any in-person sessions and all other reasonable dialogue expenses. There is no charge for delegates.
Applicants must:
be aged between 25 and 40 at the time of the application closing date;
have professional level English language skills; and
be able to demonstrate a genuine and well-established commitment to the Australia–Japan relationship.
If selected, delegates must:
commit to being an active participant in all sessions, activities and events in the AJYD 2021 program*;
contribute to post-event feedback and communications with the AJYD team; and
remain involved, where possible, in the AJYD alumni network.
*Due to the pandemic and the priority to run the 2021 Dialogue in a manner that is safe for all participants and the public, decisions regarding event logistics and the use of domestic ‘hub’ cities will remain flexible until closer to the event date. If selected, delegates should still be willing to commit to in-person participation at a hub city for the Core Weekend (20-21 November) if that is confirmed in the event format. Expenses for all travel required of delegates will be covered by the AJYD Limited.
Applicants will participate in a competitive, merit-based selection process.
